Grammy winner
Joanne Shenandoah and Mary Teal Coleman (Ven. Bhikshuni Tenzin Yeshe)
teamed up to sing "Life Blood," the Theme Song of "Voices For Freedom" |
We have created a Theme Song for this ground-breaking and unique
production, Voices For Freedom, which we are making available as a
special tool to use for obtaining donations which can help us right
away.
The Theme Song is called "Life Blood." In it, Joanne Shenandoah and
Tenzin Yeshe (the Producer/Director of "Voices For Freedom") teamed up
to sing for the preservation of the spiritual and cultural traditions
of both the Tibetans and Native Americans. Joanne Shenandoah received
a Grammy in 2006 for Best Album of Native American Music. We believe
this is the first time an ordained Tibetan Buddhist woman and a Native
American woman have joined together to sing for the preservation of
their traditions.
We are asking anyone who wishes to send a relatively small donation of
$20.00 to our efforts to do so by clicking on the "Donor Town Square"
icon below, and we will send you a CD of this special, re-mixed and
re-mastered version of "Life Blood" as a thank you.
We not only wish to use this special recording to raise funds for our efforts, but also this is our way of getting this song circulated so many will hear it. If you like the song after receiving it, we ask that you do what you can to get it heard by the public. If you have access to the staffs of radio stations, if you are on a university campus, if you can alert people via e-mail that this Theme Song is available, it would help our efforts tremendously.
One of the other constructive results we hope this will create (in addition to raising funds for the "Voices For Freedom" project) is to place issues important to Tibetans and Native Americans in the public's eye. We are releasing our Theme Song as a "single." Usually single records are performed by the latest "hot" performer, so the circulation of this Theme Song as single is a big departure from that. It is a way for people singing for compassionate reasons to be heard. If this single recording could be popularized to the point of being a popular single record, that would help give attention to the important issues for which we are singing.
So, with your donation to our efforts of only $20.00, you can help focus attention on the needs of Tibetans/Tibetan Buddhists and Native Americans by further popularizing our Theme Song called "Life Blood."
We hope you will take the few minutes it takes to make this relatively
small donation. It may seem a small amount, but many such donations
will make a big difference in the success of our work.
We thank you in advance for any support you give this work.
READ HERE HOW TO PARTNER WITH US AS A FUND-RAISER
We know that many people would like to help us, but do not have many extra funds right now. One way you can help us is to partner with us as a fund-raiser! You can invite people to your home, workplace, local schools, or other appropriate location and ask for donations for one or more screening(s) of "Voices For Freedom--The Tibetans." You must have prior written permission from us to do this, and we ask for records of how many people attended and an accounting of how much in donations was received, along with a check made out to Native Ways Institute for the amount raised; checks for donations raised at these screenings should be sent to Native Ways Institute, P. O. Box 810, Crestone, CO 81131 USA. We would be able to pay a bit from the funds raised as salaries for fund-raisers.
If at all possible, we would prefer it if people would arrange such screenings without asking for a salary for fund-raising if you are in a position to do so. We very much need the funds at present. However, if you are in need of funds yourself, we would be pleased to explore the possibility of helping you as you help us.
You can contact us to obtain prior written permission to arrange a screening of "Voices For Freedom--The Tibetans". We will give you further details at that time.
